This year, I wanted to try some non-functional wall pieces. I knew I wanted to work with texture and dimension. I was taken by leaves in the fall and the interplay of the colors, shapes and sensations. I wanted to experiment with these qualities.
I ended up taking a long leaf shape and standing it on its end, so it extended toward the viewer. These shapes were grouped close together in patterns and images that were pleasing to me. I have completed 4 pieces and I am in love with each one, for various reasons. They can be viewed in 3 different places:

March 150 @ Target Gallery
I have two pieces in this show at the Target Gallery, located inside the Torpedo Factory Art Center. This is a show that raises money for the Gallery's programming. The challenge is to create art on a 10"x10" artist panel. The media was wide open and there are very few restrictions. For me, this was fun and terrifying! I created two pieces that I am happy to have in the show.
'Mercurial Mermaid' and 'Cappadocian Clouds' are being shown through March 22. This coming Friday, March 20, there is a Art Party where you can meet with the artists of these pieces. Details about the Art Party here!

And, finally, I am showing a piece in my studio at the Torpedo Factory. I am pleased to be displaying something that is so different than what I have been working on for the last 10 years, so I hope that you will come and see it.
I am in studio #320. We are mainly open:
Monday: noon to 6pm
Tuesday: noon to 6pm
Thursday: noon to 9pm
Friday: noon to 6pm
Saturday: noon to 6pm
Sunday: noon to 6pm
I am there in general Thursday, Friday and Saturday. My studio mate is there Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Come by, say hello, check out some new art!
And, have a sprouty spring! ~Jen
