Crafts and Kisses

Thanks to all who came out to the DC Counter Culture Festival this past weekend! It was a mob ~ although everyone was happy to be together, drinking beers and looking at some very cool comics and designs. There were fun cow paintings, groovy t-shirts, hand made and self produced graphic novels. I treated myself to the first installment of Girl Ninja by Rebecca Simms (www.webcomicsnation.com/dcconspiracy/ninja/toc.php). My table neighbors were the creators, writers and stick figure drawers of Full Sanction, in which they wield bats for justice. Rusty and Joe are so slick they presented me with a selection of their editions and a full set of buttons! Thanks guys! (www.fullsanction.com) If you missed it, check out the DC Conspiracy Website for videos. (www.dcconspiracy.com)

Likewise, you can come out to Craft and Kisses, where there will be many of the same vendors, plus some other great ones. This is a hand crafted only event, so it will be showcasing some major DC area talent.

The Low Down:

Where: Josephine Butler Parks Center, 2437 15th Street NW, Washington DC
When: Sunday, February 3rd, Noon-5pm

You will have so much time to come to the show and then flit off to a Super Bowel party, so come get something fun to wear, like a t-shirt with a monkey! :)

The DC Counter Culture Festival III

Happy New Year!!!

Lately, a lot of people have been saying "2008 is going to be great!" Well, I would like to think that myself~ starting with the first major show of the year. I am wicked excited about the annual DC Counter Culture Festival III. This latest installment of an artsy freakshow will be sure to impress, express and perhaps depress. Not only is this celebrating independent artists, designers, graphic novelists and performers (to name a few), it is saying goodbye to Dr. Dremo's. The neighborhood institution will be closing it's doors at the end of January.

The 411:

Whatcha talkin' bout Willis? The DC Counter Culture Festival III
Who goes there?? Crazy arse people- lots of talented designers, artists and comic creators, PLUS entertainment- a glass walker and several local bands
Where's it at? Dr. Dremo's, 2001 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201
Why do fools fall in love? Because there is nothing much better to do on a cold winter's night.
When's dinner? Saturday, January 19th, vendors from 4pm until 8pm, freakshow from 9pmish until late
Dough, a deer? Freeeeee!! Update- ***21+ only, sorry!***
