Old Town Arts and Crafts Festival

WOW! I'm a little jet lagged right now, so please bear with me! I just got back from a week in Las Vegas. My favorite cousin was getting married and I had to be there. Plus, it is Vegas, Baby, so you gotta love it. The top photo from our room at the Flamingo, overlooking the Bellagio fountains and the Strip. It was a great view, day or night. The bottom photo is my sister and I, hangin' with the King at the wedding reception. You never know who is going to drop by in Vegas. Although it is one of the most un-earth friendly places I've ever visited, all in all, I had a great time. And, I'm back now and getting ready for a full weekend show coming up. I can't believe it is already here!

The Old Town Arts and Crafts Festival is put on by the Alexandria Volunteer Bureau each year. This event not only showcases the wonderful talent and craftsmanship in the area, but allows you to find out more about volunteering opportunities in the community.

This two day show gives ample time for you to come down to Old Town and hang out. in addition, stop by a local restaurant and get a bite to eat. Many now have outdoor seating open and the weather should be nice!

See you there!~Jen

Green Tip~ Wrap it green

Earth Fact~According to Business Week, 5 billion dollars worth of gift wrap is thrown away each year!

When wrapping up gifts, save waste (and money) by re-using gift bags, tissue paper and ribbon. Use fabric, such as a silk scarf for a mother's day gift, or a baby blanket for a shower gift. Re-use boxes that you have received, and use shredded paper as filler. Wrapping up in used newspaper isn't as tacky as it used to be. It is GREEN!

Or, buy specific re-usable gift wraps, such as or, or The Wrapsacks website lets you track a bag as it gets re-used and passed around. Cool to see where the bag travels.

Perhaps I should start making these! ;)
